Novoloop has secured $21mn to scale its advanced recycling technology and move toward choosing a site for its first commercial facility, marking a fresh round of investment in US efforts to convert hard to recycle plastics into higher value products.

The funding comes as manufacturers, consumer brands and policymakers face growing pressure to cut waste and source more recycled inputs. Novoloop focuses on turning common plastics, including bags and film that typically enter landfill, into performance materials used in footwear, vehicles and consumer goods.

Industry observers say momentum around the company’s plans shows rising confidence that advanced recycling is shifting from a niche activity to a possible contributor to future materials supply. The company reports increasing interest from brands looking at long term agreements to secure steady access to recycled ingredients without losing durability or quality.

Analysts argue that the investment reflects a wider sector trend, driven by regulation and consumer expectations that are pushing companies to reduce dependence on virgin plastics. Large producers such as Dow are also expanding advanced recycling strategies, creating a more competitive environment that could accelerate innovation.

Constraints remain. The sector continues to face challenges in securing consistent waste streams, stabilising pricing, and improving disclosure of energy use and emissions. Experts say these issues are prompting closer collaboration among investors, recyclers and manufacturers.

As Novoloop moves toward commercial readiness, observers see the funding round as an early indication of how advanced recycling could develop across the US plastics market. A successful scale up, they add, could set a benchmark for converting everyday waste into higher value materials and support broader efforts to build a more circular plastics economy.
