PureCycle's recycled polypropylene passes two P&G qualifications as record Ohio output drives commercial ramp
19 May 2026

PureCycle Technologies has secured quality approval from Procter & Gamble for two packaging applications, clearing a significant commercial hurdle for the US plastics recycler. Initial deliveries of the purified polypropylene resin are scheduled for the second quarter of 2026, with a second shipment targeted for later this year.
Production growth at the company's flagship facility in Ironton, Ohio, supports this commercial rollout. The plant processed approximately 10m pounds of plastic waste feedstock in the first quarter of 2026, yielding 8.4m pounds of recycled resin. Both figures represent quarterly highs. Financial results showed a fifth consecutive quarter of revenue growth, prompting management to reaffirm demand guidance of 40m to 50m pounds for the next two quarters.
This approval carries specific operational significance because Procter & Gamble originally developed the dissolution recycling technology before licensing it to PureCycle for commercialization. The output has now received the highest purity rating from CosPaTox, an industry organisation that evaluates the safety of recycled materials for consumer packaging.
Macroeconomic shifts are also altering the commercial viability of recycled plastics. Recent supply chain disruptions have driven up the price of virgin polypropylene, which is derived from petroleum. By contrast, PureCycle’s feedstock costs have risen only modestly. The narrowing price gap makes recycled content a more practical alternative for consumer brands attempting to meet sustainability targets while managing rising input costs.
Five additional Procter & Gamble brand applications are currently moving through the qualification process. As PureCycle completes its on-site compounding infrastructure and converts its broader pipeline into formal supply contracts, the company faces the challenge of transitioning from a technology-stage operator into a production-scale supplier for the domestic market.
